Why flush or purge?
- Preventative maintenance seems to have taken a new direction in recent model years and it's a direction that is a part of most OEM's recommended maintenance thinking. Yet this new direction is one of retaining automotive systems cleanliness and extended life. Flushing these systems is an important part of taking care of your vehicle. Why do you change oil in the engine? Because of wear and friction build up which causes the oil to change color. This is the same reason to flush other systems in you vehicle! Listed below are areas that are recommended to be flushed or purged.

- Fuel Injection System - Most shops refer to this process as a DeCarb service. This is a three-part service. First, the throttle body is cleaned with a special cleaner, then another decarbonization chemical is induced through the intake vacuum system which cleans all the carbon off the engine valves. A highly concentrated fuel system cleaner is poured into the fuel tank which cleans the rest of the fuel system. This service is recommended every 30,000 miles.

- Power Steering System - Power steering pumps and rack and pinion units lead a hard life. They are subject to system oil oxidation and often excessive heat. This kind of abuse will accelerate wear in the power steering pump, rack and pinion, valves and the system's gears if the fluid isn't flushed and kept fresh. This service increases the life and performance of these parts. This service is recommended every 30,000 miles or when necessary.

- Oil System Flush - A special additive is put into the engine oil before the oil is drained. This chemical breaks down the old oil allowing almost all of the oil to be drained from the engine. Regular oil changes generally leave 1/4 to 1/2 quart of old oil in the engine. This service helps reduce engine wear and increases the life of the engine. This service is recommended every other oil change.

- Brake System Flush - Flushing and refilling the brake hydraulic system is not a widely recommended service, but it should be -- especially when a brake job is being done! Brake fluid is highly hygroscopic, that is it likes to absorb water and moisture. This water and moisture degrades the brake fluid and can lead to loss of braking performance. Water also causes wear in the hydraulic system, pitting wheel cylinders and caliper pistons, etc. This service is recommended with every complete braking system relining.

- Transmission Flush - This service is recommended every 15.000 miles of driving. Every service we recommend that you change your transmission filter and gasket. This service completely drains all the fluid from the transmission, including the torque converter. Special additives are used before draining the fluid and after refilling the system. One cleans the system and the other is a conditioner.
Why are 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 services important and what do they include? (Click each below for more info)
- 30K, 60K and 90K are major mileage points which all vehicle manufacturers use to recommend important services to be performed in order to maintain your vehicle for maximum performance and wear plus protect your factory warranty!
